How to Make Chopped Italian Sandwich

Chopped Italian Sandwich

Chopped Italian Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Genoa salami
  • 4 slices pepperoni
  • ¼ cup shredded lettuce (iceberg or romaine)
  • 2 tbsp red onion, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp banana peppers or pepperoncini, chopped
  • 2 slices provolone cheese
  • 1–2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for creaminess)
  • 2 tbsp Italian dressing
  • 1 hoagie roll (or sub roll), sliced open
  • Optional: diced tomatoes, green bell pepper, or a dash of red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions:

  1. Chop It Up:
On a large cutting board, pile the ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, lettuce, red onion, banana peppers, and any optional add-ins (like tomatoes or bell peppers). Chop everything together into small, bite-sized pieces. You want it to be evenly mixed.
  2. Mix the Filling:
Scoop the chopped mixture into a bowl. Add the mayonnaise (if using) and Italian dressing. Mix well until everything is evenly coated and creamy.
  3. Prepare the Bread:
Slice the hoagie roll open (don’t cut all the way through if you want a hinge-style sandwich). Toast it lightly if desired.
  4. Assemble the Sandwich:
Stuff the roll generously with the chopped mixture. Press it in slightly to help it hold together.
  5. Serve:
Slice in half and enjoy immediately! It’s super flavorful and perfect for lunch, picnics, or sharing.
