Chopped Italian Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices Genoa salami
- 4 slices pepperoni
- ¼ cup shredded lettuce (iceberg or romaine)
- 2 tbsp red onion, finely diced
- 2 tbsp banana peppers or pepperoncini, chopped
- 2 slices provolone cheese
- 1–2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for creaminess)
- 2 tbsp Italian dressing
- 1 hoagie roll (or sub roll), sliced open
- Optional: diced tomatoes, green bell pepper, or a dash of red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions:
- Chop It Up:
On a large cutting board, pile the ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, lettuce, red onion, banana peppers, and any optional add-ins (like tomatoes or bell peppers). Chop everything together into small, bite-sized pieces. You want it to be evenly mixed. - Mix the Filling:
Scoop the chopped mixture into a bowl. Add the mayonnaise (if using) and Italian dressing. Mix well until everything is evenly coated and creamy. - Prepare the Bread:
Slice the hoagie roll open (don’t cut all the way through if you want a hinge-style sandwich). Toast it lightly if desired. - Assemble the Sandwich:
Stuff the roll generously with the chopped mixture. Press it in slightly to help it hold together. - Serve:
Slice in half and enjoy immediately! It’s super flavorful and perfect for lunch, picnics, or sharing.
