Cake Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon sea salt
2 large eggs (room temperature)
¾ cup vegetable oil
¾ cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
Icing Ingredients:
4 oz cream cheese (softened)
4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp milk (or more, as needed)
¼ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan to prevent sticking. - Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and sea salt until well combined. - Blend the Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, vegetable oil, sour cream, vanilla extract, and cream cheese until smooth and creamy. - Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined—avoid overmixing. - Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. - Cool Completely:
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely before frosting.
Prepare the Icing:
- Cream the Base:
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy. - Add Sweetness:
Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until light and creamy. Adjust the consistency by adding a little milk, one teaspoon at a time, if needed. - Frost the Cake:
Spread the icing evenly over the cooled cake.
Serve and Enjoy:
Slice and serve this decadent cream cheese cake! Its luscious flavor and texture will make it a family favorite.
